History of chat GPT.
The development of ChatGPT can be traced back to the work of OpenAI, an artificial intelligence research organization co-founded by Elon Musk, Sam Altman, Greg Brockman, Ilya Sutskever, John Schulman, and Wojciech Zaremba. OpenAI was established in 2015 with the mission to advance artificial intelligence in a way that benefits humanity.
In 2018, OpenAI released its first version of the GPT (Generative Pre-trained Transformer) language model. The GPT model used a deep learning approach called unsupervised learning, which allowed it to learn patterns and relationships in language from large amounts of text data without explicit human supervision. This model was pre-trained on a massive dataset of web pages and books, which gave it the ability to generate human-like text in response to prompts.
The success of the GPT model led to the development of its successor, GPT-2, in 2019. GPT-2 was trained on an even larger dataset and had the ability to generate long and coherent text passages that were almost indistinguishable from those written by humans. However, due to concerns about the potential misuse of such advanced language models, OpenAI initially restricted the release of GPT-2.
In 2020, OpenAI released a smaller version of GPT-3, which had 175 billion parameters and was trained on an even larger dataset. GPT-3 was capable of performing a wide range of language tasks, including text generation, translation, summarization, and question answering. Its release sparked a renewed interest in natural language processing and generated excitement among researchers, businesses, and developers.
In 2021, OpenAI released a new version of GPT-3 called GPT-3.5, which is the basis for ChatGPT. ChatGPT is a language model designed specifically for conversational applications and has the ability to engage in natural language conversations with users. Its development represents a significant step forward in the field of natural language processing and has the potential to revolutionize the way we interact with machines.
The newest open AI model Chat GPT-4 was realesed on march 14, 2023. chat GPT-4 is available for Chat GPT plus user.
